UNESCO4ALL Tour

Today, in our Interpretation Centre was presented the projectEU Unesco4all TOUR – an innovative and transnational European project that started in March 2019.
The project covers various European countries such as Croatia, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Belgium and Malta.

The goal of the project is to adapt cultural content to visually impaired people, and adapting the content would mean that visually impaired people have the ability to “read” the cathedral with the help of technology – “Tooteko rings” on hand and mobile phone applications. “Tooteko ring” is an invention of high technology, which recognizes and reads data, verbal descriptions, from the surfaces of selected monuments whose replicas were made in a 3D printer.

As part of the project, replicas of selected parts of the Šibenik Cathedral of St. James, intended for the tactile experience of blind and partially sighted people.
A group of blind and partially sighted people from the Association of the Blind of Šibenik-Knin County visited and tactilely toured the exhibition, and after that part of the permanent exhibition of the Interpretation Centre.

The partner in this project is the Typhlological Museum in Zagreb, one of the rare special museums in Europe dealing with the problems of disabled persons, especially of the visually impaired.
