St. Nikola Tavelić
Today, the Catholic Church celebrates the feast of the first Croatian saint, Nikola Tavelić from Šibenik (1340 – 1391).
The Jerusalem martyr canonized on June 21, 1970 is especially honored in the church and monastery of St. Francis in Šibenik, which are also the National Sanctuary of St. Nikola Tavelić.
You can discover more about this saint by visiting our Centre, and it is interesting to note that his birthplace was right on the northern edge of the city block where the Interpretation Centre is located.
