Supertoon 2025
Supertoon International Animation and Comics Festival specializes in short animated films and authorial comic book editions, and takes place every summer in the Šibenik.
This year’s 15th edition will be held over five days, from 21 to 25 July 2025, and the competition will feature more than 200 of the latest and most interesting short animated films at various locations in the city.
In addition to the film section, there is also a diverse range of accompanying programs – including an exhibition section that will be held in the Centre’s gallery. This is an exhibition of illustrations ”SOMNIO, ERGO SUM” by Lucija Mrzljak, who is also the author of this year’s festival visuals.
The works are created by combining classical and graphic techniques – graphite and pastel pencils, lithographs, drypoint and etchings – with occasional digital interventions.
Lucija is an animated film director and illustrator living between Zagreb and Tallinn, Estonia. She studied animation at prestigious art academies in Zagreb, Krakow, Prague and Tallinn, and received her MA from Priit and Olga Pärn at the Estonian Academy of Arts. She has co-directed short films that have won awards at numerous international festivals. In addition to her film work, Lucija is also an accomplished illustrator, and her work includes political satire, poetic children’s books and poster design. Since 2019, she has been teaching at the Estonian Academy of Arts and has been a guest lecturer at institutions including Aalto University in Helsinki, Turku Academy of Arts, Lusófona University in Lisbon and Aichi University of the Arts in Japan.
The opening is scheduled for Monday, July 21st, starting at 7pm. Admission is free.
