Šibenik Music Evenings in Civitas Sacra
Duo Hornyanszky and Römer, oboist and guitarist, held a concert last night in the multimedia hall as part of the Šibenik Music Evenings event. It is the sixth in a series of 12 concerts for the 2022/2023 season organized by the Music School of Ivan Lukačić, Šibenik.
Excellent musicians – Zoltán Hornyanszky, oboist of the Zagreb Philharmonic and István Römer, a regular guitar teacher at the Zagreb Academy of Music, performed as a duo for the first time in front of the Šibenik audience.
The oboe and guitar duo is a very rare composition on international concert stages. Original literature for oboe and guitar is almost non-existent, and the discography is sporadic.
This duo was founded in 2019 for a concert tour in China, where they held five concerts that year from the far east to the far west of that great country.
Their repertoire includes, in addition to compositions by baroque and classical composers originally written for some melodic instrument and guitar, original works for oboe and guitar from the Romantic period, as well as contemporary Croatian and Hungarian works for oboe and guitar. A special rarity is the Sonata for English horn and guitar by the Portuguese composer with a Croatian address by Pedro Abreu, which is one of the very rare compositions for that ensemble.
