The visit of the Cardinal De Donatis

The Pope’s Vicar for Rome, Cardinal Angelo De Donatis, visited Sibenik, the Cathedral of St. James and the Interpretation Centre of the St. James Cathedral ”Civitas Sacra” on Monday 29 July. He met with the Bishop of Sibenik, Msgr. Tomislav Rogić, and the pastor of St. James’s Cathedral, Msgr. Krešimir Mateša. The Cardinal’s entourage included Assistant Bishop for Rome Daniele Lebanori, Vicar for secular lay movements Msgr. Antonio Panfili, and Director of Pilgrimages Msgr. Remo Chiavarini.

The pastor of the Sibenik Cathedral, Msgr. Krešimir Mateša, introduced Cardinal De Donatis to the cathedral, its artistic value and the theological message carried by the cathedral, and in a special way the cathedral baptistery. Visiting with the guests the Hall of the Episcopal Palace, Bishop Tomislav Rogić spoke about the history of the Diocese of Sibenik and the current situation in the diocese. Cardinal De Donatis was particularly interested in the situation with spiritual vocations and with youth pastoral care.

The meeting between Cardinal De Donatis and Bishop Rogić ended with a visit to the Interpretation Centre of the Cathedral of St. James “Civitas Sacra” where guests were delighted with what they saw.
