The round table organized by the Croatian Association for Down syndrome will be held in the multimedia hall on Friday, May 24. and Saturday 25.5. with the desire to make the general public as familiar as possible with the problems of families whose members have Down syndrome.

From the organization says: “At this gathering, we want to talk openly about everyday situations, difficulties and problems faced by families of people with Down syndrome, from pregnancy in which the diagnosis of Down syndrome was made, childbirth, acceptance of the child in the immediate and extended family, attending kindergarten, schooling, employment and socialization of children with Down syndrome.
According to data from the Register of Persons with Disabilities, about 2,040 people with Down syndrome live in the Republic of Croatia (RO), and 49 people with Down syndrome live in Šibenik-Knin County. In the Republic of Croatia, there are eight associations for Down syndrome in nine counties.
Through lectures by doctors, bioethicists, educators and other experts, our goal is to support the families of children, young people and adults with Down syndrome, as well as everyone who encounters people with Down syndrome in their activities and services.
Testimonies of the daily life of families of people with Down’s syndrome will enrich the gathering and give new ideas and incentives to all those present and empower them in living together.”

Iz organizacije poručuju: ”Želja nam je na ovom skupu otvoreno progovoriti o svakodnevnim situacijama, teškoćama i
problemima s kojima se susreću obitelji osoba sa sindromom Down, od trudnoće u kojoj je postavljena dijagnoza sindroma Down, porođaja, prihvaćanja djeteta u užoj i široj obitelji, pohađanja vrtića, školovanja, zapošljavanja i socijalizacije djece sa sindromom Down.
U Republici Hrvatskoj (RH) živi oko 2040 osoba sa sindromom Down prema podacima iz Registra osoba s invaliditetom, a u Šibensko-kninskoj županiji živi 49 osoba sa sindromom Down. U RH djeluje osam udruga za sindrom Down u devet županija.
Cilj nam je kroz predavanja liječnika, bioetičara, edukatora i drugih stručnjaka dati podršku obiteljima djece, mladih i odraslih sa sindromom Down kao i svima koji se susreću u svojim djelatnostima i uslugama s osobama sa sindromom Down.
Svjedočanstva svakodnevnog života obitelji osoba sa sindromom Down obogatit će skup i dati nove ideje i poticaje svim prisutnima te ih osnažiti u življenju i zajedništvo.”
