Book promotion announcement
On Saturday, September 27th, starting at 11am, there will be a promotion of the book ”On the Path to Heaven – Cultural Heritage, History and Legacy of the Benedictine Nuns of Šibenik”, by Ana Plenča, MA in Art History.
The Benedictine Monastery of St. Lucia – as the only active monastery of this order in the Šibenik area – has been operating in the city for 385 years. With this monograph, Ana Plenča aims to highlight its cultural and historical significance and examines the monastery’s collection of art. The book is divided into chapters on icons, sculpture, painting and altars, most of which have not been treated before, and provides their approximate dating, formal and iconographic analysis, artistic models from which some of the works were made and their current state of preservation, as well as a chapter on the microclimatic conditions in which the works are located.
The book will be presented by the author with moderator Jolanda Krnić Zmijanović.
