Lecture announcement
The “Juraj Dalmatinac” Society for the Preservation of Šibenik’s Heritage is organizing a lecture by Dr. Daniel Premerl titled “Ivan Tomko Mrnavić of Šibenik and the Zagreb Reliquary-Bust of Saint Stephen the King,” which will take place on Friday, May 22, at 7:30 PM at the Civitas Sacra Interpretation Centre.
The “Juraj Dalmatinac” Society organizes six to seven lectures annually; this is the fourth lecture of the 15th season and the Society’s anniversary year.
The lecturer, Dr. Daniel Premerl from the Institute of Art History in Zagreb, will shed light on the life and significance of Ivan Tomko Mrnavić (a native of Šibenik) and his role in commissioning the reliquary-bust of Saint Stephen the King from the Zagreb Cathedral Treasury, a masterpiece of Roman Baroque metal sculpture and decorative art.
The speaker and the lecture will be introduced by Jolanda Krnić Zmijanović, a member of the “Juraj Dalmatinac” Society.
