Photo exhibition announcement
We invite you to the opening of the exhibition of photographs from the Homeland War on Monday, September 15th at 12:00.
The exhibition “They Wanted Us to Be Gone” shows, through photographs by Šibenik war correspondents, photo reporters and photographers, what fate the Greater Serbian aggressor intended for Croatia and what criminal methods he used to try to achieve his goals. At the same time, the exhibition shows how Croatia defended itself and defended itself, and what role Šibenik and the Šibenik defenders played in the victory over the aggressor and the defense of Croatia.
The photographs also show that the goal of the aggression was not only the physical extermination of Croats, but also the destruction of everything Croatian – Croatian culture, heritage and religion – by demolishing cultural monuments, churches, destroying heritage… From this and such an enemy, the Croatian people defended themselves with struggle, but also with the strongest weapons they had – pride, civility, culture and religion.
The mosaic of photographs taken during the Homeland War in the period from 1990 to 1995 is a vivid testimony to this and a permanent reminder of the days of pride and glory.
The exhibition “They Wanted Us to Be Gone” was set up on the occasion of the commemoration of the September Battle of 1991, in which the defenders of Šibenik defended their city, defeated the enemy and began a victorious path that would end with the liberation operation “Oluja”.
The authors of the photographs are Joško Čelar, Stanko Ferić, Radovan Goger, Marina Jurković, Giacinta Mattiazzi, Savef Mos, Dario Perković, Vilson Polić, Paolo Siccardi, Ivan Šarić, Rajko Šobot and Božo Vukičević.
The exhibition will be set up in the multimedia hall, and admission is free.
