A Costume and/or a sculpture
On Sunday, June 20, in the gallery of St. Nikola Tavelić within the Interpretation Centre “Civitas Sacra”, an exhibition entitled “A Costume and/or a sculpture” by contemporary costume designer and visual artist Ivana Bakal was opened.
The exhibition includes her theatrical costumes, with special emphasis on her research of costumes outside the context of a classical play, in non-theatrical, gallery and/or open venues, particularly within dramaturgical and performing potentials of costume as the centrepiece of source of the play as a whole. By combining discarded or used objects and unusual, recycled and environmentally friendly materials with traditional forms, the author explores the possibility of costumes to create meaning, atmosphere and characters.
The exhibition is part of the program of the 61st International Children’s Festival Šibenik, and remains open until July 3.
Admission is free.
