Churches of our City

Another exhibition was opened as part of the “Churches of our City” competition, organized by the Catholic Primary School in Šibenik, in the space of the gallery “St. Nikola Tavelić”.
At the ninth art competition in a row, 392 art works were submitted, and 70 mentors from 60 schools from the Republic of Croatia responded.
Through the given topic, the aim is to encourage pupils to research, get to know and present the cultural heritage of their city in the form of works of art. Throughout the centuries, society built different types of churches, larger and smaller, but the goal was always the same – to bring the spiritual reality closer by building, giving the best of oneself, either materially or conceptually. Church buildings are symbols of faith and the time in which they were built, and above all, they are a sign of God’s presence among us. The church as such opens a well of possibilities for its artistic interpretation.
On November 9, the judging committee, consisting of S. Mandica Starčević, director, Katarina Škugor, classroom teacher, and Milena Mikulandra, art teacher, chose the most successful works.
