64. MDF at Civitas Sacra

On Sunday, June 23, the exhibition “Japan has a special place in Šibenik’s heart” was officially opened in the gallery of the Interpretation Centre as part of the 64th International Children’s Festival Šibenik. It is a joint exhibition of the Abiko School of Art from Japan and Zdenka Bilušić, art teacher from Šibenik.
Cooperation with the Japanese city of Abiko, with which the International Children’s Festival Šibenik – Croatia has been cooperating for over three decades, is a vivid testimony to the friendship that lasts regardless of language and cultural barriers.
Painter Akiko Suzuki from the Abiko School of Art has held numerous workshops for children over the years in which she presented a part of traditional Japanese arts and schools, such as etegami, sumi-e, calligraphy or ikebana. This year, as part of the MDF, Akiko is exhibiting her works and the works of her students together with Zdenka Bilušić, who has collaborated with Akiko and her school for years as the editor of the Workshop Program.
