Franciscans and art in the 13th century

In the crowded multimedia hall of St. Michael, on Tuesday, April 24, Prof. Dr. Joško Belamarić held an exceptional lecture on the topic “Franciscans and art on the Croatian coast in the 13th century”.
The opening speech was given by Jolanda Krnić Zmijanović from the Juraj Dalmatinac Society for the Preservation of Sibenik Heritage, which is also the organizer of the lecture.
Professor Belamarić brought the time of St. Francis of Assisi, his influence on the whole society not only during his life but also after his death.
Already from the middle of the 13th century, learned Franciscans will be found in the episcopal cathedrals of most Dalmatian cities. They were important restorers of their cathedrals, whose efforts we see in many works.
